Where does your tuna come from?

Country of Origin: Vietnam

The Fiji tuna fishery is based out of Suva, the capital of Fiji. Fiji is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean, north east of New Zealand’s North Island. It is close to Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Tonga, the Samoas and Tuvalu. Fiji is an archipelago made of more than 330 islands. The two main islands are Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Fiji has one of the most developed economics in the Pacific, one reason being its abundant fish resources.

Who caught your tuna?

Your tuna was caught by one of the vessels that belongs to Fiji’s National Fleet which consists of 105 vessels licensed to fish in Fiji national waters and beyond Fiji’s national jurisdiction. All vessels must comply with Fijian fishing laws and are registered on the regional vessel registry.

Sustainability

This fishery is a comprehensive fishery improvement project (FIP) since June 2019. The FIP is lead by Bumble Bee Foods and FCF Company, Ltd and supported by Ocean Outcomes.
