About
The Fishing & Living™ initiative is an industry-lead initiative springing from Anova Food USA’s commitment to responsible sourcing from sustainable fisheries and thriving fishing communities. Based on the philosophy that a healthy ecosystem goes hand in hand with resilient fishing communities, Fishing & Living’s work focuses on both ecological and social aspects of fisheries improvement. Through collaborations with international and local NGOs, local and national governments, field staff on-site and of course, the fishermen themselves, the Fishing & Living initiative is active in various tuna fisheries. First initiated in 2009 with an initial focus on Indonesian tuna fisheries, it has now grown to work with tuna fisheries around the world, including Vietnam, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Cook Islands and Fiji.
How do we do it?
A team of dedicated field staff work closely with the fisher communities to educate, provide training, and support them in achieving fishery sustainability. This work involves supporting the development of effective fisheries data collection and governance, community organization and capacity building, as well as creating an enabling environment for long-term fisheries sustainability.
